Road Safety - National standards Cycle training levels 1 & 2

Project Aim

 

National Standards Cycle training provides a qualification to year 6 participants to become safe cyclists. Levels 1 & 2 provide an excellent platform to enable children become proficient cyclists. Level 1 delivered within school environment. Level 2 delivered around school vicinity.

 

What does the project entail

 

Provide free cycle training to Year 6 pupils from qualified experience cycle trainers. Participants who achieve the required set criteria will be award with a certificate upon completion of training.

 

What is required from the school?

 

Encouragement from Head/class teacher to enable maximum participants on each course. Assistance with consent forms for participants. School yard available to complete level 1 training

 

How do the pupils directly benefit?

 

Increase cycling to and from school help reduce vehicle congestion around schools.

Reduce cycling casualties in Swansea.

Promote healthy lifestyle


Cycle Training meets the expectations of the Welsh Government as set out in their  Road Safety Framework for Wales 2013
