Nature Days - Gower Field Studies Provision

Project Aim

Nature Days aims to teach children and teachers to appreciate the environment through better understanding of the processes taking place and the organisms which live within it.

This is achieved through quality field work in which the children and teachers are immersed in the environment and discover the learning opportunities and abundance of interesting features located within each different habitat.

Nature Days aims to integrate the field days into school’s schemes of work so that they are the pinnacle of the learning experience and bring work covered in the classroom to life. The field days should not stand alone as one-off experiences but should complement the curriculum work undertaken in class.

What does the project entail

Curriculum based bespoke field trips for classes from Reception to Year 13.  All with qualified teacher leaders, associated equipment hire and resources for use on the day and for post visit school work.

What is required from the school?

A booking form with information on learning outcomes so that the day can be designed to meet the schools needs.

How do the pupils directly benefit?

All aspects of the day are curriculum linked to the topic identified in the booking form. As well as these on-going LNF skills are integrated as well as social skills such as team work and working outside.

Parents benefit as children usually wish to visit the environment again and share the experience with their families.

The environment benefits as we focus on how to protect and why we should look after the habitats we visit.
